Security is increasingly important and guarding against unauthorised access to corporate data and emails is vital. Microsoft have developed an easy to use way to significantly increase the security around accessing your email and company data, using the Azure Active Directory Premium.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is a method of verifying who you are that requires the use of more than just a username and password. It provides a second layer of security to user sign-ins and transactions.
MFA requires the use of more than one verification method. It adds a critical second layer of security to user sign-ins and transactions. It works by requiring any two or more of the following verification methods:
There are a number of different verification methods that can be used. Most people choose receiving a text to their mobile asking them to enter a 6 digit code.You can opt for a phone call, or you can input a verification code through a mobile app.
Even if someone knows your password, without your phone or mobile device that has been configured to receive the authentication requests, they won’t be able to get into your account.
Self-service Group Management
Azure Active Directory Premium simplifies day-to-day administration of groups by enabling users to create groups. Also request access to other groups, delegate group ownership (so others can approve requests). And maintain their group’s memberships. This is a very useful feature for creating a forum for teams working on projects together, to be able to share data and emails. Membership of groups can be managed internally by designated users.
Self-service Password Change and Reset
Our Helpdesk probably get more requests to change or reset passwords than anything else. It’s annoying for users to have to ask the Helpdesk to reset their password and it’s frustrating to wait until it’s done.
Recognising this, Microsoft have included a facility within AADP to enable users to change their own passwords and even reset expired passwords. With AADP in place you can quickly and easily reset your own password – without having to login to the network or use the Helpdesk.
Cloud Application Discovery
If you’ve ever worried about employees sending company data out via Hotmail or Gmail accounts, or copying data to a personal Dropbox account then having this facility in place will put your mind at rest.
We roll out a small piece of software on the office PCs and from then on it monitors the applications in use and builds a database of information that can be used to run monthly reports against.
